Visibility Hacks for Midwives

10 Ways You Can Improve Your Visibility

You’re incredible at supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond — but being visible online can sometimes feel like a whole other job.

The good news? You don’t need to go viral or post every day to grow your presence.
You just need to show up consistently, with intention, and in a way that feels authentic to you.

Here are 10 simple visibility hacks to help you get seen online — without the overwhelm.

1. Speak Like Your Clients Search

Use phrases your ideal clients actually use on Google and Instagram. It helps more families find you and understand what you offer.

The way we communicate online and how our clients search needs to align so that they find you! Think about your language, the words you use to describe your services and offerings should be of course, in your tone of voice but be nice and clear.

Tip: Add your location or service area too (e.g. “Independent Midwife, West Midlands”).

2. Show Your Face (or Your Voice!)

People connect with people. Whether it’s a short video, a selfie, or a voiceover Reel — your presence builds trust.
You don’t have to be polished or perfect; just be you.

Try this: A 10-second Reel saying, “Hi, I’m [Your Name], a midwife who supports families through calm, connected births. THEN – talk about how you do that!

3. Be Consistent, Not Constant

You don’t need to post every day — you just need to show up regularly.
Two to three posts a week is enough to build recognition and stay top of mind.

Plan in themes: education, behind the scenes, affirmations, client stories and talk about what is going on in your world.

📚 4. Share Bite-Sized Wisdom

Your knowledge is gold — but keep it simple and relatable.
Try sharing quick tips your clients will love, like:

  • “3 signs your body is ready for labour”

  • “What you want most for your clients who choose you”

These kinds of posts are easy to read, save, and share — which boosts visibility naturally.

🤝 5. Collaborate Within Your Niche

You don’t have to do this alone.
Partner with doulas, antenatal class/course providers, birth photographers, or perinatal therapists.
Cross-promoting each other introduces you to aligned audiences already interested in your services.

💌 6. Engage With Intention

Visibility isn’t just about posting — it’s about connecting.
Comment on posts from other midwives or birth workers, reply to DMs, and join meaningful conversations. Equally, if anyone does comment, reply! Ask more questions. Keep the conversations going.
It tells the algorithm (and people!) that you’re active and approachable.

🪞 7. Repurpose What You Already Have

Not everyone saw your post the first time! Which isn’t a bad thing at all.
Turn a blog post into multiple Reels, carousels, or Stories.
Reuse your best-performing content in new formats — it saves time and strengthens your message.

💫 8. Share Real Stories

Stories create connection.
Share (with consent or anonymously) real experiences that show the difference your care makes.
People might not remember stats, but they’ll always remember how you made someone feel. They don’t always have to be birth stories to be engaging or empowering.

🎥 9. Use Reels — They Still Work

Instagram still prioritises video.
But don’t worry — you don’t have to dance or lip-sync!
Try a voiceover, slideshow, or text-based Reel with trending audio.

💡 Pro tip: Add captions so viewers can follow along without sound.

🧭 10. Always Include a Next Step

End every post with a clear call to action.
It can be as simple as:

  • “Save this for later.”

  • “Book your consultation.”

  • “Join the waiting list.”

  • Schedule a call.”

Visibility matters most when it leads to connection and care.
